Browns finally have stability at quarterback while other teams are searching: Orange and Brown Talk Podcast

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The quarterback carousel is turning in the NFL this offseasn and the Browns aren’t on it. These are strange days indeed for a football team who couldn’t get out of its own way most of the time when trying to find its longterm signal-caller.

Baker Mayfield is barreling towards starting Week 1 for the third straight season. He has started every game for the Browns going back to Week 4 of the 2018 season. He did something no quarterback has done for the Browns since Vinny Testaverde in 1994 — win a playoff game.

The Browns can extend him this offseason, a huge step for an organization who, in the past, struggled to get their “quarterback of the future” past a training camp battle.

Mayfield will enter his second year in an offensive system with an offense returning every key piece from a year ago and an offensive coaching staff unchanged from 2020. While a bunch of other teams scramble to find their next guy, the Browns have theirs.

Mary Kay Cabot, Scott Patsko and I discuss what stability at quarterback means for the Browns on Monday’s Orange and Brown Talk Podcast.
